Beat the Pope traffic in NY with a $95 Helicopter ride

Pope Francis will soon be arriving in New York, and as expected, the city is in a tizzy, with preparations being made for the Holy Father’s visit. In the midst of all the excitement, a company that gives helicopter rides on hire is offering special 5-minute flights across Manhattan. The Pope’s visit will lead to the shutting down of several roads, due to security measures being put into place. This could inconvenience a few people, which is why, Blade will offer these helicopter rides, just the way Uber offers cab rides! Users will be able to book helicopters using a smartphone app. A distance of approximately two miles will cost as low as $95.

In an email on Thursday, Blade said to its customers, “Due to popular demand Blade will be offering flights between the West Side and the East Side of Manhattan during morning and evening rush hour time periods. We look forward to seeing you Friday and helping you beat the impending gridlock.” Instead of flying directly over Manhattan, these chopper rides will circle over the waterfront, reaching destinations in 5 to 8 minutes. One thing’s for sure. Those who can indeed afford these rides won’t be complaining too much about packed streets during the Pope’s visit!
