Lamborghini betting big on the Urus, expects sales to double after the SUV launch

In 2012, Lamborghini had unveiled the concept of launching its SUV-‘ The Lamborghini Urus ‘.While it has been creating quite an uproar for the last few years, the SUV’s production version is finally set for the big launch in 2018. Known for its sports cars like the Huracan and Aventador, Lamborghini’s SUV launch is quite a welcome change and has the world pinning on it.

While the sports maestro brand usually sells around 3000-3500 cars a year, it expects to double its sales to roughly 7000 cars in 2019, following the market launch of the Urus. Lamborghini CEO, Stefano Domenicali quoted that the launch will be a big game changer for the brand, promising an aggressive marketing strategy to push the SUV sale numbers to match the current sales of the sports variants. In an attempt to notch up its sales, the brand also plans to widen its dealer network worldwide from 132 now to 160 in the near future. Calling for added man power, the SUV manufacture will double the employee count at the brand’s Sant’Agata Bolognese plant in Italy by adding 500 new hires. While the brand will focus on a rigorous worldwide sales approach, it will certainly target US the most, as the country continues to generate maximum revenue for the brand.

It also plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid electric version of the SUV by 2020 with talks of adding a zero-emission vehicle also in the pipeline. The SUV has already gotten car connoisseurs excited and will cost its elite buyers a $200,000. Even though Lamborghini plans to remain a luxury sports car maker, the Urus will surely bring in big cash numbers for the brand.
