Dubai’s love affair with gilded luxury cars is legendary. Over the years we have seen countless uber-expensive whips getting the gold treatment for customers from Dubai as the city loves everything that’s bling. Gold Rolls Royce Ghost, Mercedes Benz SLR, Lamborghini Aventador and Mercedes SLS are just a few examples that have dazzled the streets of Dubai in the past and the list goes on. Owning an expensive ride without any pricey customization in Dubai is as bad as having a mundane family saloon. So a Maserati GranTurismo owner in Dubai decided to wrap his $130,000 Italian beauty in gold and encrust it with Swarovski crystals on top just to get some special attention; and so it did. The gilded Maserati was spotted on the streets of Dubai and a video was uploaded on the internet.
According to the person who uploaded the video, a similar gold treatment to a car costs between between 20,000 and 25,000 Emirati Dirham ($5,500 – $6,800 approx) in Dubai, but it’s not just the gold wrap the Maserati brags of; The Maserati trident badges including the Maserati badge at the rear, a trunk trim piece and side vents all have been adorned with Swarovski crystal. In addition, the bodywork also features matte black pinstripe painted down the center that accents the matte gold hue, but oddly the wheels have a glossy gold finish which spoils the whole appearance.
