New York will be the home port of Breakaway, its biggest ship ever


The Big Apple will soon play home to the largest sailing vessel ever to home port in the city, the Norwegian Breakaway. Built by Norwegian Cruise Line, this 4000-passenger ship will begin services by April 2013 to complete about 88 cruises in two years time. Weighing in at 144,000 tons, the ship also hosts boutique rooms and luxury private area called ‘The Haven’ that comes with 24-hour butler service, a poolside valet and white-tablecloth in-room dining. To begin with, the ship will travel 7 day journeys from New York to Bermuda bringing in 140,000 visitors to the city over two years who in turn will spend a whopping $35 million in all!
