The first Porsche Experience Center to open in Los Angeles next year

“Make up for time lost on the 405. Porsche Experience Center is coming to LA,” read the billboards right next to the 53-acre under-construction land in Carson, California, which once was a golf course. If you’re a Porsche enthusiast, then those words should be enough to get you excited. Only available in England and Germany until now, Porsche Experience Center is now coming to the US, and in Los Angeles, to be more specific. All the Porsche cars are proper performance machines, but owners hardly ever get to test them to their limits except on the track days. The center will give a unique opportunity to experience and drive Porsches ranging from Boxter to 911s in all the conditions, including driving them flat-out, learning to skid through corners, and driving on simulated ice and on the rain-slick pavement.

The Porsche Experience center track will feature a modular design that will enable the company to create various courses ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 miles (0.8 to 3.2 km). It will also allow visitors to drive their own car on the track and then compare it to a Porsche. Along with the track, the experience center will have a Human Performance Center that offers “customized programs to maximize personal fitness and wellness for race car drivers and endurance athletes.” The facility will also be the base of Porsche Motorsport North America and have a factory-backed maintenance and restoration area. The Porsche Experience Center is expected to open its doors to the public by December 2014.
