Fifth-generation Shelby GT500 gets Signature Edition Super Snake upgrade package

Shelby American has unveiled a new package for the fifth-generation Ford Shelby GT500 produced from 2007 through to 2014. Dubbed the Shelby Signature Edition Super Snake, the upgrade package will be limited to a mere 50 units and includes a host of visual and performance modifications. The package adds a Kenne Belle supercharger to the 5.8-liter V8, boosting its output to a whopping 850 horsepower. The cooling upgrades include a new radiator, a heat exchanger and aluminum cooling tanks. Other additions include bigger rear brakes and a re-tuned suspension help the driver take full advantage of the added performance.

From a visual standpoint, the package adds new Weld wheels with Signature Edition centre caps, new racing stripes as well as Shelby American badges. Customers looking to further stand out can order Shelby’s “wide body” package at an extra cost. On the inside, the package consists of a commemorative Carroll Shelby signature on the steering wheel as well as special plaques throughout and Signature Edition floor mats. “With production of the current generation GT500 ending, we wanted to commemorate the sunset of an important era. It’s a car worthy of being honored with a very special limited edition Shelby,” said Shelby American CEO Joe Conway. Limited to only 50 units, the pricing starts at $44,995 excluding the cost of the donor car, and orders will be accepted through January 31st, 2015.
