The refitted J-Class Endeavour yacht will sail with a gold-tipped mast

The famous J- Class Endeavour was recently fitted with a new 53.7m (176.18’) gold-tipped mast and rigging package from Southern Spars in the multi-million dollar refit in Auckland, New Zealand, this October. “No expense was spared during the restoration of Endeavour, and the rig itself is no different,” says Southern Spars project manager Olivier Marthe. Originally built in 1934, the 1980s destroyed this beauty. The 2011 launch will end an 18-month refit project carried out at Yachting Developments’ yard based in Hobsonville, Auckland. A carbon fiber mast and EC6 carbon fiber rig package have been installed to enhance her performance and functionality. The carbon fiber mast is coated in gold leaf.
