Roll like an Autobot – Uber is offering a ride in Optimus Prime

Planning a special date with your girlfriend and want the transport to be a head-turner? Why settle with a boring limousine when you can go one better! Car-for-hire app Uber is giving a change to book a ride in none other than Optimus Prime. The new Transformers film, Age of Extinction, is premiering later this month and the franchise has partnered with Uber to promote the film by offer a ride in the legendary Optimus Prime to few lucky people in three cities of the United States. An actual Optimus Prime semi-truck decked out in the classic blue and chrome design with reddish flames already touched down in Dallas, Texas on 16 June and now will be available in Phoenix, Arizona on 19 June from 1 pm to 7 pm and Los Angeles, California from 1 pm to 7 pm.

The Uber Autobots campaign is backed by both General Motors and Paramount Pictures. One lucky Uber user shared her Transformer experience on Twitter and posted several pictures with her cool ride. To book the ride, the app user can simply do it by opening the Uber app and then selecting the Autobots option before confirming the pickup spot. “If you’re lucky enough to make contact with Optimus, he’ll roll out to your location for a 15-minute experience,” announced Uber on Tuesday through a blog post.
