U-Boat Worx begins work on the $1.27 million C-Explorer 5 submarine

Fancy a tour in the deep seas? If your mega-yacht is not quiet making a statement, here’s a little addition that will help. Personal submarine maker U-Boat Worx will soon launch its C-Explorer 5 submersible. The C-Explorer is finally a reality, as this state-of-the art submarine has commenced development work. The submarine will be designed to send four passengers and one pilot to depths of up to 100 meters (328 ft.). The submersible features a full 360-degree acrylic pressure hull giving clear views of the underwater sights. Powered by a 42 kWh lithium ion battery its four 5 kW electric motors can propel the craft to speeds of up to 4 knots on the surface and 2.5 knots underwater. With a maximum payload of 550 kg it can remain beneath the waves for up to eight hours.

With a price tag of €966,000 (approx. $1.27 million), the U-Boat Worx expects the C-Explorer 5 to find a niche market for the C-Explorer among the uber rich. For those looking to go beyond the modest 328ft, the Personal Submarine can descend up to 1000ft under the sea. I guess, its different strokes for different folks, as long you do it in style.
