Airbus draws a Christmas tree in the sky over Germany using A380 super jumbo’s flight path

Christmas is just around the corner and the holiday theme has started to blanket everything around us – even the skies. Commercial jet maker Airbus went about spreading the festive joy by drawing a giant Christmas tree in the form of a flight path using their A380 super jumbo. The European aeronautical firm completed the carefully choreographed stunt during the test flight of the A380 that will eventually be flown by Dubai carrier Emirates. The world’s largest passenger jet was flown south from Hamburg, making circular maneuvers at more than 40,000ft to create the baubles and zigzagging to recreate the distinctive shape of the tree.

The unusual flight path caught the attention of flight tracking websites like flightradar24. According to flightradar24 it passed over Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart before returning to Hamburg to complete the shape. Earlier this year, Boeing pulled off a similar stunt when a Dreamliner made the shape of a plane over America.
