Arrive like a star – Uber offers helicopter services for Cannes film festival

American car hailing app Uber has tied up with French helicopter company Hélipass to shuttle stars to Cannes from Nice-Côte d’Azur airport. The firm will charge $180 for a trip during the festival which will be held from May 13-24 at the beautiful French coast. With this air taxi service stars can avoid being stuck on the busy Nice-Cannes stretch and lose valuable grooming time. Guests can board the helicopters which will take off 15 minutes after making their reservations, and will take seven minutes to reach their destination. The French channel to BFMTV, reported that seven helicopters would be present, in permanent rotation, carrying three to six guests.

The company is no stranger in the helicopter reservation services, and has tested in US, South Africa, Australia and Brazil. Last year the company offered private jet service between Paris’ Le Bourget Airport and Nice to stars during the festival.

From the first day of the festival the app will feature a new icon to make helicopter reservations. Since film stars don’t like waiting, and more don’t like the idea to be outshone by his peer, it will be a busy period next week what with 125,000 guests expected this year. Watch the skies, folks, if you happen to be in the vicinity.
