Cancun drivers take the fight back to Uber by offering luxury vehicles on demand

Here is the war of the roads. To try and put a defense and ‘openly compete’ against Uber’s uber popular services, taxi drivers in Mexico’s Cancun is hoping to see an exclusive super-luxury service role out, with support from the state government. From April 1, visitors to the city can enjoy picking up one from a jazzy fleet of cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and also a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL with butterfly doors. The Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Union will be operating the services. This is like straight out of movie – the foreigners invade into the domestic calm of a rogue unionized city and they retaliate by pulling strings and power. The last time the taxi drivers protested by blocking the streets and acting like fifth graders, Uber got a staggering 800% download rate for its app! All this spite is because Uber is proving too popular with residents and tourists and the regular taxi drivers cannot handle the success taking a big portion of their daily bread.

And the world goes on.
