NBC reality TV show to send winner into space on Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic

Are you a fan of reality TV, or are you bored of the same kind of shows being repeated endlessly? Worry not! Reality TV is soon going to be bumped to an all-new level. A TV show will give its final winner an ultimate chance to go on a trip to space. Sir Richard Branson has teamed up with reality TV king Mark Burnett for a new series named “Space Race” that’ll allow the winner to board the Virgin Galactic to go on space travel. NBC has given the nod to the show, which will be built on a similar format to that of Mark’s famous “Adventure Race” show.

Though a couple of companies and teams across the world are trying their luck with commercial space tourism, but Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is the closest to achieving the feat. 600 customers have already booked their seats, for $250,000 per person, for SpaceShipTwo flights from Spaceport America in New Mexico including celebrities like Justin Bieber, Aston Kutcher and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The show will use an elimination per competition method to choose the final winner. It will take place in the commercial spaceline’s home at Spaceport America in New Mexico, the departure point and training and preparation center for space flights. But NBC hasn’t confirmed when it will start shooting the show or will air it as the space flight program is still in the testing phase.
