Artya’s Bye Bye Euro Watch mocks the power of Euro as a currency

I don’t think I can ever even in my wildest dreams have the heart for chopping up my hard earned money. But that seems to appeal to some people with a kinky taste, including watch brand Artya! As the year ends, the brand is out with a unique “Bye Bye Euro” timepiece. The idea behind the watch is to “comment on the fact that the Euro as a currency might have not been the best idea”. Designed by Artya’s Yvan Arpa, the dial is filled with shredded Euro dollars and don’t worry it’s all legal. The currency used is “decommissioned” money which is out of circulation and shredded officially.

The watch sports a 47mm steel case powered by a Swiss automatic movement and is finished with a Kevlar leather strap. Priced at 5,900 Swiss Francs ($6,320), Artya mocks the currency with the message “Sarkozy, Berlusconi, Papandreou and Merkel are invited to buy one in order to remember their dreams.
