Bulgari launches the luminescent Octo Tourbillon Sapphire with blue accents

Italian jeweler and watchmaker Bulgari at last year’s Baselworld expo added a futuristic timepiece to its emblematic Octo collection called the Bulgari Octo Tourbillon Sapphire. The watch uses interesting movement architecture in which the caliber’s bridges double up as hour indicators. The bridges are DLC-coated and topped with green luminescent material. For this year, the luxury brand has introduced a blue colored variant of the timepiece in which the bridges are in blue along with same colored stitching on the rubber-lined black alligator leather strap.

The case of the watch is inspired by the motifs adorning the Basilica of Maxentius, referencing the Roman roots of Bulgari, and measure 44mm. The watch comes with a sapphire case middle and a transparent case back. The titanium case features the same black diamond-like-carbon (DLC) treatment. The watch is powered by the in-house caliber BVL206 with manual winding, regulated by a flying tourbillon making a full rotation every 60 seconds, and has a 64-hour power reserve. It features 11 DLC-coated bridges adorned with blue bars serving as hour markers and made of a hi-tech luminescent material. The Bulgari Octo Tourbillon Sapphire watch in blue is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at HK$473,000 ($60,000 approximately).
