Hippocampus clock, an extraordinary piece of horological brilliance

Zurich based clockmaker Miki Eleta has been creating kinetic sculptures and has used his experience in the same to craft this exceptionally unique timepiece. Unveiled at the MB&F M.A.D. Gallery, the Hippocampus clock uses a custom-created escapement set in action with a sea-horse-shaped anchor, all designed by Eleta himself.

The Hippocampus clock is one of the six extraordinary pieces of Eleta’s imagination on display at the MB&F M.A.D. Gallery. The clock stands 2.8 meters high and includes a one-of-a-kind musical movement. This musical movement sports a melody that does not repeat itself over a hundred years! The designer of this exceptional timepiece is a self-taught clock-maker and began mastering his trade after a client questioned his precision a decade ago. Learning it all in just a year, this horological genius now creates two extraordinary clocks every year.
