The newest watch in the iconic Big Bang block, the Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono is Hublot’s first bi-retrograde movement with central chronograph for “soccer timing”. The seconds and minute’s hand, green and yellow respectively, sweep from the 10 to 2 o’clock position and upon reaching 60, both hands jump back to 0 instantly. As official timekeeper of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Hublot has ensured that the dial colors on the “soccer bang” align with the national colors of host country, Brazil.

But football frenzy aside, let us deconstruct the charismatic chronograph. Available in two versions, an 18kt King Gold or a black ceramic version, with a carbon fiber bezel, the watch comes in “Big Bang Unico” case, which measures 45.5 mm. Its unique, UNICO caliber serves as the base for the HUB1260 movement made up of 385 components. The famous 6 H-shaped screws secure its bezel and the screw-down crown with over molded rubber is also decorated on the end with the famous “H” from the Hublot screw, and two push buttons.

The rubber strap is setup with Hublot’s “quick change” or “one click” strap system and the timepiece is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces for the King Gold and 200 for the black ceramic version. Each watch comes in a special display box autographed by Pele, as well as a Brazil soccer jersey, also signed by the soccer legend. Clearly, Hublot has kept up with tradition since unveiling the last FIFA World Cup winner’s watch.
