The partnership of Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin has led to the creation of many a fine timepiece that combines horological expertise as well as automobile performance. The latest offering from the pair is the exquisite AMVOX5 World Chronograph that too blends the traits of the two great brands. Aptly named, by selecting a city on the turning flange of the timepiece, instant visualization of the time in any of the world’s 24 time zones is possible at any moment. Luminescent white indicators and numerals in the 270° display have become a classic feature of the AMVOX collection and this latest creation too echoes the same signature designs. The time elapsed on the chronograph function is read on the central second hand and on the two 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The design of the chronograph is inspired by a super car ensuring it will be a favorite with every car enthusiast.
Powered by a Jaeger-LeCoultre 752 calibre movement, the AMVOX5 with its column wheel and vertical trigger features a winding mechanism on lubricant-free ceramic ball bearings, a large variable inertia balance and laser-welded balance spring. The case is made of high-tech ceramic combined with titanium and 18 carat pink gold. The intensely black case weighs much less than steel, yet is twice as hard, giving the AMVOX5 World Chronograph its infallible resistance. A limited edition creation, the AMVOX 5 will be restricted to just 500 units, 300 with a ceramic and titanium case, and 200 with a ceramic and 18 carat pink gold case.
Furthermore, two Racing models will also be made in ceramic and titanium, with a black or white dial. The racing models have been inspired by the LMP1 Aston Martin Racing prototype, and feature carbon fibre chronographic counters with a flash of orange on the world time disc, the chronographic second hand and the overstitching on the calfskin leather strap. The crystal is sapphire and it is water resistant to 50 meters. The racing models will be limited to 100 units each.
A timepiece for the globetrotting speedster, the AMVOX5 is truly a class apart.
