Piaget reinterprets Altiplano 900P for Only Watch 2015

Piaget will be participating in Only Watch for the sixth year in a row and the luxury watchmaker has announced a one-of-a-kind edition of the Altiplano 900P timepiece for the charity auction. The Piaget Altiplano 900P timepiece is the world’s thinnest hand-wound mechanical watch. Made from 18kt white gold, the Altiplano 900P merges both case elements and the movement, achieving a record-breaking slenderness at 3.65 mm, making it the thinnest watch in the world. To achieve this unbelievable feat, each of the 145 parts composing the Altiplano 38 mm 900P was trimmed to a size barely thicker than a hair’s breadth, including some wheels measuring a mere 0.12 mm thin.

To make this timepiece special, Piaget reinterpreted the Altiplano 900P with a red hour and minute hand. The caseback is engraved with the inscription “Only Watch 2015 – unique piece”. The Piaget Altiplano 900P will be auctioned off on November 7 to raise funds for research into more effective treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
