1949 Bigsby Birdseye Maple Solid Body Electric Guitar fetches $266,500


It was a moment of absolute ecstasy for guitar collectors and aficionados to see one of the rarest guitars to be found, such as the stunning 1949 Bigsby Birdseye Maple Solid Body Electric Guitar being bid for by two bidders at the Dallas Guitar Show recently. Crafted by the famous guitar maker Paul Bigsby, the guitar is the fourth to be ever made by the famous shop. The Bigsby guitar was completed on May 16, 1949, and has also been tested for authenticity by experienced professionals in this field. Few of the guitar’s dilapidated parts have been replaced, while the others have not been replaced.

The stunning masterpiece of the late ’40s had an estimated price range of $25,000- $35,000 but managed to fetch a whopping $266,500 to Heritage Auctions’ Vintage Guitars Musical Instruments Signature Auction.
