American WWII spy Marie Aline Griffith’s jewels to be auctioned at Sotheby’s


Going back to jewelry, Sotheby’s is all set to bring some stunning examples of beautiful craftsmanship owned by a former American World War II spy Marie Aline Griffith who was wedded in “Spanish aristocracy” to become Countess Alina de Romanones and was quite popular with the who’s who of the international arena including world leaders and Hollywood celebrities. The collection includes necklaces, brooches, and earrings set with emeralds, diamonds, and rubies. Set to be auctioned off in Geneva, the auction will also see the sale of jewelry owned by Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson. These include an emerald tiara valued at $10 million and a $16 million 11-carat pink diamond.
