Andy Warhol’s self-portrait earns $17 million at a Christie’s


Andy Warhol is best known for his obsessive art structured around Hollywood bombshells and famous celebrities. But his self-portraits garner a lot of enthusiasm too. Confirming the fact was a Post-War and Contemporary Art auction by Christie’s. The canvas painting has been created using red and white silkscreen ink and features the artist’s with his hand to his mouth. The painting forms apart of the 11 self-portraits Warhol created and have been a part of a private collection since 1974. The painting went for a staggering $17 million, which is double its pre-sale estimate value.
