At $46.8 million, the pink diamond is the most expensive stone ever sold at an auction

The most talked-about pink diamond finally went under the hammer for $46.8 million. Setting record as the most expensive stone ever sold at an auction, this 24.78 carats rectangular step-cut pink rock is almost the size of a pinball. The proud possessor of this record-breaking diamond is the same guy who successfully bid for the Wittelsbach diamond (former world’s most expensive jewel sold at auction). Diamond dealer Laurence Graff was one of the four active bidders and offered to pay $46.9 million via telephone. With this latest acquisition, he owns two of the world’s greatest and most valuable stones.
