Eclipse Mirror……kind of implies that it’s from the cosmos! But that’s not the case. Designed by Bodo Sperlein he has used Corian and Swarovski crystals. Combing versatility with sophistication this illuminated circular wall mirror will be unveiled for the first time at the Bodo Sperlein stand at Maison et Objet in Paris from September 7th – 11th. Measuring over one meter in diameter, the hemispheric frame is made from thermoformed DuPont Corian in pure Glacier White which is skillfully encrusted with just about 500 Swarovski crystals. And are you wondering where will the cast-a-shadow effect come from? Well, the mirror is internally lit with a new generation Phillips T5 circular fluorescent lamp, an eco-friendly light source that emits a warm luminescence.
“I wanted to cast some magic and mystery…and this comes in the form of a theatrical display of refracted light across a semi-translucent, glacier-white surface, which in turn creates a tantalising glow. The Swarovski crystal clusters add sparkling glamour to the piece. I can envision it adorning the wall of a Hollywood Boudoir, a boutique design hotel or a chic salon” quotes the designer.
