Adidas recently teamed up with porcelain maker Meissen to create the very exquisite ZX8000 art sneaker. The exotic shoe features hand-painted leather and porcelain overlays and is quite unlike anything we’ve seen before!
Assembled over six-months, the sneaker weighs 90 grams and is made using premium Adidas leather that is hand-painted by Meissen. Aptly called the ZX8000 “Porcelain,” it has been brought to life by experts in Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, and Meissen, Germany.
The shoe boasts porcelain elements over the Torsion clip in the midsole, the ZX heel cup, the lace lock, tongue tag, quintessential three Stripes, with each featuring a unique hand-painted antique design. Commenting on it, Till Jagla, Adidas’ global head of energy, said, “The manufacturing process to create the ‘first porcelain sneaker ever’ has been very complex and took us more than a year to finish the product. The team has been obsessed with creating the perfect piece of art. When I think about this project, what I liked most is the love, the passion, and the dedication, which have led to an overwhelming result.”
The Adidas X Meissen the ZX8000 “Porcelain will be auctioned by Sotheby’s from December 7th to 16th, 2020 for an estimated price of $1,000,000. It will thereafter be released for purchase on December 11th, 2020. Fancy a new addition to your sneaker collection?
