First Batman comic auctioned for $850,000

In recent years we have seen emerging markets for vintage and valuable comic books. Last year a 1938 Superman comic fetched big bucks at an auction. This time around, Batman came close to upstaging Superman, although not too close. At’s Comic Market Heritage Auction, the certified copy of Batman #1 sold for $850,000. 1940 comic, which was graded at CGC-Grade 9.2, was sold by a private collector and was bought by some investors. The comic with its off-white pages also happens to be the 6th most valuable book listed by The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide.
