Garrard’s $40,000 poppy brooch goes under the hammer

The Poppy brooch movement seems to be on an all-time high! And now it’s time for The Garrard brooch to bring in some much-needed aid as it will go under the hammer at the Poppy Ball to benefit the Royal British Legion for this year’s Remembrance Day. Crafted at Garrard, London workshop, the complex yet detailed, the layered piece is hand-painted and sports black diamonds, rubies, and tsavorite garnets, all set in 18-carat gold.

The flowers also sport red and green semi-transparent enamel to make the brooch seem like a real flower. The inside of 42mm wide and 64mm long brooch reads “The Royal British Legion Poppy Ball 2011”. The brooch measures 42mm, while the length from the tip of the leaf is 64mm. The brooch has been valued at £25,000 ($40,150).
