Having the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown on display already made quite a lot of noise last year. This time around, two of the royalty’s hats were sold at an auction held in Bermondsey recently, with each of them fetching over double they’re estimated asking prices. The Philip Somerville black and white hat that the Duchess to Prince William’s Order of the Garter presentation in June 2008 went for a good $4850. The black Aurora hat that the Duchess donned at friend Harry Meade’s wedding in October 2010 was sold for $5600. Each hat fetched much more than double (almost thrice) their estimated asking prices. Both the hats that were bought by an American bidder were borrowed for the occasions.
