Historic 1952 Jaguar C-Type race car to be auctioned

The RM Auctions Sports & Classics of Monterey event, to be held between August 13 and 15 in Monterey, California, is expected to boast some really rare and exquisite beauties. The exquisite lineup will include the historic 1952 Jaguar C-Type race car driven to victory in 1952 by the legendary Phil Hill to claim the Jaguar C-Type’s first North American racing victory. This historic car was one of just 53 examples built, and one of the first Jaguar C-Types delivered to America. Designated XKC-007, it was shipped to New York in 1952 and driven immediately to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Along with XKC-009, it made their competitive racing debuts as part of the company’s North American sales pitch for the model. The car further went on to achieve success at Torrey Pines that same year. Since then, this beauty has had various owners and has been fully restored. The car displays the signature of Phil Hill and retains its original, numbers matching engine.
