Chanel’s French reverie will soon be graced with some Latino flavors, thanks to Penélope Cruz who recently stepped-up as the brand’s newest campaign ambassador. The Oscar winning actress who owns a strong relationship with Chanel’s design mind – Karl Lagerfeld, will be seen attending the brand’s couture show today, her first appearance as the brand’s official ambassador.
The Spanish actress will grace the marquee as the face of its exclusive cruise campaign, conceptualized and shot by Lagerfeld himself. In announcing her glee of joining Chanel’s league of ambassadors, Cruz stated, “It’s such an iconic brand and Karl is a genius, and I’ve been admiring everything he’s done since I was a little girl, so it’s such a pleasure working with him. He’s like the king of fashion and we had a really, really interesting photo shoot, so to be in front of his camera is an adventure.”
The actress has been spotted wearing Chanel creations on the red carpet, including her fairly recent appearances at the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival. She has also been acclaimed highly for stylishly donning Lagerfeld’s outfits in the celebrated 2009 film – “Broken Embraces.” In her new capacity, Cruz joins the likes of Margot Robbie, Kristen Stewart, Keira Knightley and Lily-Rose Depp, all of whom are proud Chanel Ambassadors as of today.
