Interested in buying the Jaeger-LeCoulter’s Prototype N°1 of the Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea “LeCoultre Spécial Amérique 1959”? Yes, it is a mouthful, but you are in luck. The watch manufacturer is auctioning off this commemorative edition watch for a great cause. Partnering with UNESCO World Heritage Center and The International Herald Tribune, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s will donate the entire proceeds of the auction to Malpelo Flora and Fauna Sanctuary in Colombia. Money raised from this auction will allow the Colombian navy crews to buy an inflatable boat to patrol the coastline and stop illegal fishing activities.
Some interesting facts about The Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea is its similarity to the original model LeCoultre Special Amerique 1959. The stainless steel case on the newer watch has been slightly oversized for current trends and is topped by Plexiglas, and is water-resistant. The original frogman motif adorns the back of the case. Features such as hours, minutes, central seconds, alarm, however, are similar to the original watch.
Watch collectors interested in participating are required to pre-register. The auction will be held on April 18th through April 21st online at the watch manufacturer’s website.
