It must have ripped the hearts of a million Maybach lovers when they saw Jay-Z and Kanye West take a beautiful 2004 Maybach 57 and tear it apart for the Grammy Award-winning song ‘Otis’ in 2011. The butchered and mangled Maybach 57 was sailing in the expected price range of $100,000 and $150,000 at an auction to benefit the Save the Children Foundation. But unfortunately, the sedan fetched only a meager $60,000 at the New York Contemporary Art Evening auction held by Phillips de Pury & Co.
It’s a fine car, but I guess folks are a tad intimidated to be spotted driving a model from 2004. You know what they say, what goes around comes around. You project it to be worthless in the video and it takes a real life cue from there to fetch you nothing. It’s alright if you think my school of thought is too rigid!
