Fans can cough up huge sums to gather memorabilia signed, worn, owned or even as much as touched by their icons. And proving this as true is an unnamed Cobain admirer who recently paid $22,000 for a plastic plate that was once used by the famed artist to eat pizza off of. Yes, that’s right!

The sale took place as part of Julien’s Auctions “MUSIC Icons” event on Saturday in New York’s Times Square. In addition to being used by Cobain to gobble up some pizza, the paper plate in question also comes handwritten setlist written in black marker that was also used at the 9:30 nightclub in Washington, D.C. in 1990. Although the dish was estimated to sell between $1000-$2000, it fetched a lot more, much to the surprise of the auctioneers.

Other impressive takeaways at the Julien’s event included items owned by Queen, Madonna, Prince, Lady Gaga and Beyonce, such as the synthesizer that was used to record “Radio Ga Ga”, a shirt signed and worn by Freddie Mercury in his last filmed performance and Britney Spears’ handwritten lyrics to “Baby One More Time”. A cardigan worn by Cobain during his final photo shoot was sold for $75,000 at the auction, proving once again that the artist’s memorabilia is always a hot commodity. Well, looks like music buffs sure known how to honor the idols in style!
