Macallan unveils a limited edition 52-year-old single malt that costs a whopping $53,500

When it comes to fine whiskies, no one does them better than the Macallan. After presenting connoisseurs with the choicest of blends, the whiskey manufacturer is now set to release a luxe single malt that has consciously been aged for 52-years in the best casks that Macallan is known for. The complex whiskey boasts an array of flavors and is already touted as one of the best from the brand.

Slowly matured in one exceptional, handcrafted first fill European oak sherry seasoned cask from Spain, the fine spirit bears a testament to Macallan’s promise for taste and world-class quality. The casks in question are sourced, crafted, toasted and seasoned under the watchful eyes of The Macallan Master of wood and are known to contribute to the character, hues, distinctive aromas and the full-bodied flavor of the single malt. The aged spirit bears hints of rich fruit and dark chocolate fondant followed by flavors of peat smoke combined with cinnamon and ginger from the wood spices.

The luxurious Macallan 52-year-old will further be presented in a solid oak box that features an etched face inlaid with a matte gold badged age statement, much in line with the packaging of The Macallan 25 years old and The Macallan 50 years old. Only 250 bottles of the rare whiskey will hit shelves, with 42 being released in the United States. And much like any rare spirit from the Macallan house, the Macallan 52-year-old will command a heavy price of $53,500 per 750 ml bottle. The question is, would you fancy buying it?
