It was but obvious that Marilyn Monroe fans wouldn’t miss out on the once in a lifetime chance to get a chest X-rays of the late beauty that was to be auctioned by Julien’s Auctions. In fact, it was not a matter of whether the X-rays would find a bid but rather how much the fans would bid. With the auction behind us now (it took place on June 26), we have the exact figure that the X-rays fetched. Believe it or not, the X-rays of the beauty fetched a cool $45,000, ten times more than the pre-sale estimate of $1,200 per X-ray. Besides the X-rays, another Monroe memorabilia that received high bids at Julien’s Auctions auction of Hollywood legends memorabilia was a chair from Monroe’s last photoshoot went for $35,000. In non-Marilyn memorabilia, Christopher Reeves’ Superman VI costume sold for $32,500 while a dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face went for $56,250.
Seeing the success of this auction, we can say the charm of Hollywood will never fade.
