Napoleon and Josephine’s Engagement Ring sold for $948,000


Great love stories are eternal; giving a piece of those love stories to your loved one requires two things, a big heart, and a big pocket. A certain gentleman who recently bought the diamond and sapphire engagement ring that Napoleon gave to his beloved Josephine. Now that’s something his lady love will never forget, as the ring in question is a diamond and sapphire engagement ring that reportedly sold for 730,000 euros ($948,000) in France on Sunday. Lucky as she is, for the man, not just the ring, she now owns a part of history as engagement ring once belonged in the collection of Napoleon III, who was a nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, and his wife, Eugenie, and then to their descendants.

The auction was held at Osenat auction house in the town of Fontainebleau; apparently, they expected the ring to fetch between 10,000 euros and 15,000 euros, but a lot more was in the store, and it went under the hammer for $948,000.
