Nude Bruni photo sells for $91,000, fetches 20 times it’s expected price

A nude photo of Carla Bruni, now wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, standing in a pigeon-toed pose and covering her assets with her hands was sold in New York for $91,000, which is nearly 20 times more than it’s expected price. The photo taken by photographer Michel Comte in 1993, during her modeling days had gained a lot of popularity after Bruni got married to the French President. A buyer for a Chinese art collector bought the black-and-white image which was auctioned as a part of the sale of 140 photos from the German collector Gert Elfering which also features work by Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, and Peter Beard.

A portrait sketched by Richard Avedon of the 1950s and 1960’s French screen siren Brigitte Bardot was sold for $81,000 which was earlier expected to fetch between $80,000-$120,000.
