Olivia Newton-John’s iconic grease outfit could fetch a whopping $200,000 on auction


Some looks glamorously freeze in time and proving this as true is singer and actress Olivia Newton-John whose iconic attire from the song, “You’re the One That I Want” is all set to go on sale. And what’s more, the super-chic black leather jacket and skin-tight pants (from the famous 1978 film- “Grease”) are expected to go under the hammer for a jaw-breaking price of $200,000! Yes, that’s right!


Commenting on the stylish pencil pants, the veteran said – “The pants were 20 years old when I tried them on and the zip was broken, They fitted me really well, but they said ‘we’re going to have to sew you in’. She further remarked on the jacket by saying – “I actually toured with the jacket for many years, until one night I took it off and threw it across the stage,”

The Actress who is fighting breast cancer for the third time in a row will be selling 500 other items this weekend including her original script from the film, estimated to fetch an estimated $4,000, the pink gown she wore to the Grease premiere in Los Angeles, with an estimated value of $3,000 to $5,000, and a custom Pink Ladies jacket given to her by the Grease cast and crew which is expected to fetch between $2,000 and $4,000.

Commenting on the sale, Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions in a statement said that the company was honored to host an auction to celebrate “one of pop music’s greatest talents and treasured icons.” He further added, “Her ( Olivia Newton-John’s) extraordinary career — that includes her starring role in Grease, one of the most successful Hollywood films and soundtracks of all time — and her recordings of some of the biggest pop singles of the 20th century, makes her more than just a star but a pop culture phenomenon.” The sale will be held at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills this Saturday.
