Nicknamed Lady Blunt, the 300-year-old violin was put up for auction by the Nippon Music Foundation. They have held the violin for years, and according to Hideo Fukuda, the Foundation’s spokesperson, the violin has not been used much. He added that the money raised from the auction would be used for tsunami disaster relief and promote traditional arts in the disaster-hit areas.
