More Hollywood memorabilia will go up for grabs soon, as Joe Maddalena’s Profiles in History, will put up Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory items under the hammer in July this year. Considering that a part of the Dreier Collection, it is speculated that this is probably the last time these iconic items will be up for grabs. Off all the items on sale, Gene Wilder’s “Willy Wonka” signature costume is most likely to set the ball swinging the most. The costume features an aureate purple velvet frock coat, wool & camelhair slacks, an off-white shirt, a purple & violet lamé vest with floral design, and a satin bow tie.
Picked up by Michael D. Beinner, Director of Field Advertising and Publicity for Paramount Pictures, the costume was a gift after promoting the film around the US ended. The item is expected to earn between $80,000 and $120,000.
