Red reigns in Chanel’s new Rouge collection for autumn

Coco Chanel said, “mettez du rouge et attaquez.” Put on lipstick and attack. And that is what rides on the autumn 2016 collection – Le Rouge Collection N°1. Developed by the brand’s global creative makeup and color designer Lucia Pica, the collection remains synonymous with Chanel’s “Rouge” signature.

The collection includes two new colors for the nails – Le Vernis Gloss Rouge Radical, which is a bright red with an orange tint and a gel finish and Le Vernis Longue Tenue Rouge Puissant, which is a deep red; a brick-red powder blush called “Joues Contraste Rouge Profond” in a half matte, half-satin finish and seven shades of lipstick in a myriad palette of red shades accompanied by cousins orange and brown.

Red is also used for eye makeup, a unique trait of this collection, notably Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palette in Candor et Expérience, which is warm brown shades with an intense brick red color. The brand’s Illusion d’Ombre and Illusion d’Ombre Velvet eye shadows have also got red tones.

The collection is due out on July 22, with prices ranging from $26 to $57. It will be available in stores and online at the brand’s official website, Nordstrom, Harrods, and Bergdorf Goodman.
