The world’s first make-up museum is opening in New York next year


If you’re a make-up enthusiast or are simply intrigued by the idea of it, here’s some pleasing news for you! To the delight of cosmetic loving women and quirky heads such as ourselves, the world will soon be graced with its first-ever make-up museum in the city of New York! Yes, that’s right!

Dedicated to the history of beauty and its ongoing impact on society, the Make-up Museum will open in the Meatpacking District of New York in May 2020. It will display a series of rotating exhibitions spanning more than 10,000 years of makeup history, with the first in line being: “Pink Jungle: 1950s Makeup in America”. The museum’s debut event will showcase iconic makeup trends 50’s and spotlight their use by imminent divas from the decade such as Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn.

Commenting on the launch, Doreen Bloch, Executive Director and Cofounder Of The Makeup Museum said, “The Makeup Museum is a critical institution for the cultural landscape in New York and globally,” She further added, “Makeup has a 10,000-year history, spanning from the ancient Egyptians and the kohl eye liner they used to kabuki and geisha makeup in Japan, all the way to drag makeup and the influence it has today on pop culture.”
