World’s tallest building, Nakheel tower to come up in Dubai…almost over a kilometre in height!

Tall buildings and Dubai have become synonymous to each other. If it’s a tall building its got to be in Dubai and Dubai can soon be known as the land of the worlds tallest buildings, after all aren’t they all there? The Dubai developer Nakheel, yeah the same genius who created man-made islands in the shapes of a palm tree and the world have come up with the tallest building ever, the Islamic design-inspired Nakheel Tower. The building will have “more than 200 floors. Nakheel chief executive officer, Christopher O’Donnell, said: “From our perspective, we are building a tower that’s going to be over a kilometre in height. This is a complete iconic development. It may be the tallest.” Keeping in mind its scale it doesn’t surprise me to learn that the tower and harbour project will take more than 10 years to complete and it might actually take me more than that much time to be able to buy an apartment there.

So I’m in point of fact rather glad to know that I have a bare minimum of 10 years in hand. Apart from the landmark structure, there will be another 40 towers, ranging in height from 20 floors to 90 floors. The entire development will be home to more than 55,000 people and a workplace for more than 45,000. OMG! It doesn’t get higher than this!
