The Adriatic coast hasn’t failed to mesmerize well-traveled celebs like Brad Pitt either. While we are aware of Brad Pitt’s deep liking for Croatia, calling it ‘the best country he has ever visited’, he recently decided to take his Croatian love a step further. Arriving at the Zadar airport last week, the famous actor took a tour of a prospective site for luxury development in the small resort town of Zablace.
Reportedly, Pitt hopes to transform Zablace’s pre-existing marina into a luxury hotel, complete with shops, villas as well as schools and clinics. This estimated $1.5-billion real estate project will accommodate 2,500 people and is designed to be ‘a modern ecologically-responsible planned community’. The Inglorious Basterds actor was accompanied by famed architect Nikola Bašić, who has designed many iconic structures in Croatia. While on his trip, Pitt enjoyed every bit of Croatia by staying at the recently opened Dogusevom Hotel and paying a visit to Sibenik’s St. James Cathedral.
Not the first to Transition into the hotel industry, Pitt’s counterpart Leonardo DiCaprio is also actively involved in developing an eco-tourism resort in Belize, while soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has already opened doors to the first of his four properties on Madeira Island. Pitt’s love for architecture is though not unknown as the actor had previously taken a break from his Hollywood career to studying computer-aided design at the Los Angeles offices of renowned architect Frank Gehry, while also aiding the construction of 150 sustainable houses in New Orleans post its devastation by Hurricane Katrina. Though it’s unclear whether the project will be finalized anytime soon, we and the Croatian coast are sure looking forward to this next star-made luxury estate!
