Jeff Bezos commits 7.7% of his net worth ($10 billion) in an ode to fight climate change


The earth is all we have and its time we did our bit to protect it! Believing in this ethos is also the world’s richest man who hopes to shield mother earth from the rummage of human activity. No points for guessing – we’re talking about Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos who has recently pledged $10 billion in the fight against climate change.

To bring his plan to fruition, the ambitious leader has launched the ‘Bezos Earth Fund’ wherein he will contribute 7.7 % of his total net worth to resolve environmental and climate-related issues. The fund will aid efforts to combat climate change, global epidemics, rising temperatures, coastal erosion and more by working alongside NGOs, scientists, activists, and other global organizations.

Revealing his plans on Instagram, Bezos in a post said – “Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet. I want to work alongside others both to amplify known ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devastating impact of climate change on this planet we all share. …It’s going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation states, global organizations, and individuals. “He further added – “I’m committing $10 billion to start and will begin issuing grants this summer. Earth is the one thing we all have in common — let’s protect it, together.” Here’s hoping the Bezos Earth Fund achieves glorious success!
