The fairy-tale wedding of our lifetime did not disappoint us. However, the old world, everything about the Royal Wedding screamed Luxury. Being hardcore fashionistas, it’s natural that we would gravitate towards Kate Middleton’s wedding ensemble. Designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, this elegant wedding gown was made from ivory and satin gazar. It was embellished with individual cut flowers from English and French Chantilly lace and accessorized with a soft, ivory, silk tulle veil trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers. Sources have indicated this classy wedding gown’s cost to be around ₤250,000 ($415744).
In keeping with the tradition of “something borrowed,” we could not help but salivate over the 1935 Cartier Halo diamond tiara. It was loaned to Kate Middleton from the Queen’s priceless collection of jewels, and yes, it is priceless. Of course, “something new” was the exquisite diamond leaf earrings gifted to Kate by her parents. They were made to match the tiara by Robinson Pelham, a bespoke jewelry firm, for a modest price of ₤9,000 ($15,000). While no pricing details have been revealed for the wedding shoes, a similar lace Alexander McQueen heels are available to us commoners at Net-a-Porter for $1,675.
