Katy Perry earned a $135 million last year making her the highest paid female celebrity

It’s been a good year for pop star Katy Perry. First she became the face of Moschino’s new campaign, now she’s gracing the cover of Time magazine having been named the highest earning female celebrity, leading this year’s Forbes top-earning list. She appears on the cover wearing a gold bustier and a tuxedo covered with unsubtle dollar signs.

Katy earned a staggering $135 million last year making her Forbes’ highest paid celebrity followed closely by Brit boyband One Direction with $130 million. Taylor Swift is the only other woman in the top ten earning $80 million.

Katy celebrated the win in a lengthy Instagram post asking women to embrace by their success. She posted:

“Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn’t a humble decision. Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized. Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it’s okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also… don’t think that I didn’t celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme #ontourbreak”
