Madonna plans a $1.7 million makeover for her new Upper East Side townhouse

When Madonna acquired the $40 million Upper East Side triple-wide townhouse, it was assumed that the Material Girl’s hunger for the perfect abode has been satiated. The house with a two-car garage, a 3000 sqm garden, nine fireplaces, an elevator, a wine cellar with a grotto, 13 bedrooms, and 14 bathrooms is not enough, Madonna. City plans show that Madonna is adding a floor to her already massive mansion. The floor will add 1,614 square feet to the mansion (bringing the total square footage to 13,847, not including the cellar) and be mostly taken up by a gym.

Her revamp plans also include tearing down the existing bedrooms and baths, creating a new master suite on the third floor with a boudoir flanked by a giant walk-in closet and a master bath. The plans also reveal a hair salon across the hall and a separate closet for her luggage. A second master bedroom on the same floor with a master closet for her boy toy is also in the offing.
The first floor will feature a drawing room and labeled on building plans as a “security living room” with an adjoining bar. Madonna is also adding a wine cellar and playroom one flight below the ground floor garage. In total, the newly revamped house will boast of ten bedrooms and thirteen bathrooms.
And the costs, you ask? Well, the entire renovation will reportedly set the singer back by a cool $1.7 million.
