Oprah Winfrey picked up a stunning apartment in Streeterville, Chicago, hasn’t ever lived in it since buying it in 2006. And despite assuring that she will live in the 4,607 square foot apartment, she has decided to put in on a lease for $15,000 per month. The private elevator landing leads to a formal living room via the reception gallery, formal dining room, and sun parlor at the house’s back. The wood-paneled living room sports a wood-floored library with a fireplace and windows that offer treetop views to Lake Michigan and Oak Street Beach. The service quarters are hidden behind the elevator and formal dining room.
The dining room features a “galley style kitchen with antiqued white cabinetry, granite countertops and breakfast area, separate laundry room, access to the service elevator, and a kitchen-size butler’s pantry with dark cabinets and granite counter tops.” The house also has provision for a home office with a built-in desk and a brick-walled storage room for alcohol, and a full-height wine refrigerator.
The guest room sports a huge walk-in closet, fireplace, private bathroom with window, and French doors that lead to a small shared terrace to the master bedroom. The house boasts a 1,300 square foot master suite with three walk-in closets, a built-in storage cabinet, 2.5 bathrooms, and entertainment. For now, Winfrey prefers her “15,000 square feet 4-unit combination duplex condominium” at the Water Tower Place complex, Chicago instead.
