Fashion can sometimes be widely misunderstood. While designers often come up with artsy ideas, they can really miss the mark at times, as did Virgil Abloh with the zip-tie feature on the Nike Air Max shoes. Although the sneakers as a whole have received a whole lot of love the audiences, I personally could never wrap my head around the existence of the odd-looking zip-tie on its laces.
Sharing the confusion as mine is a good-meaning cop who recently stopped Justin Bieber as he strutted past him in his Off-White X Nike Air Max 90 sneakers. Mistaking the zip-tie on the shoes for a security tag, the cop asked Bieber as to why he had stolen the sneakers and was now intending to run away with them! Sharing the hilarious incident on Instagram, Bieber commented, “Virgil, my God, bro. You freaking — you’re killing me, man! “I just had a cop come up to me and ask me why I still had the security tag on my shoe. What the…”
While the signing star managed to tackle the matter smoothly, he had to justify his sense of fashion and the odd placement of the zip-tie on his $160 sneakers twice as hard. Frankly, though, we don’t blame the law officer one bit, for a plastic string tied around the laces of a shoe can hardly mean fashion for most! Yes, Abloh can mess up too!
